Important Patient Notice: Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the current Ebola outbreaks in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

The risk to the UK public remains low. However, to help protect patients and staff, we ask anyone who has recently travelled to affected areas and is feeling unwell not to attend the surgery in person.

Do Not Attend the Surgery if:

You have travelled to Uganda or the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) within the last 21 days and have any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever or flu-like illness
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Fatigue
  • Vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Rash

What Should You Do?

If this applies to you:

  • Do not come to the GP surgery without advice.
  • Telephone Helix Medical Centre immediately and inform staff about your recent travel history and symptoms.
  • Follow the advice given by our clinical team.

This helps us ensure you receive the appropriate care while protecting other patients and staff.

Thank you for your cooperation.
